For those among us inclined to Medieval things (such as myself)
here is the British Library's Calendar page.
Otherwise, what movie have I finally watched this last weekend? I finally saw
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Now, I am a great fan of horrible movies. I love movies that are so bad that they become good again. I had heard that GR:SoV was horrible, and I had high hopes that it was one of those movies that can be wonderfully horrible.
I was mistaken. It was not a good movie. The animated sequences were pretty well done, and the effects weren't terrible, but the plot, and the acting. Let's just say, usually I love watching Nicolas Cage in all his craziness on screen, but this was a movie full of moments where all I could do was wince.

Somewhere in Eastern Europe, there's a road!
Really, when a movie starts off with this descriptor of where things are happening. Yeah, Eastern Europe, because everyone knows that is just one big homogeneous area, culturally and geographically! This is a big tip at the beginning of a movie that the people involved? They didn't really care. They continued to not care through the rest of the movie. Which makes it very hard for me to care.

Anthony Head, what are you doing here?
Further, when you're surprised that certain actors are in this film because you don't recall anyone ever mentioning anything about them being there, you know it's a sign.(Why, Anthony?!) Not that he had a very big part. I can only hope that he did this just for fun because this is such a bad movie.

It's a young Kurt Russel, surely the movie is saved!
I had a moment of hope when I first saw the young Kurt Russel person. He gave me a very
Escape from New York feeling, minus the eye-patch of course. Unfortunately, it was a false hope, and like everyone else in the movie he disappointed. From start to finish this film needed better acting and a significantly better script. For once, the child actor was not the worst actor among the whole group. His performance was almost understated and controlled in comparison to oh-so-much of the rest of them. I think that may have been part of the problem. Clearly a number of the older actors were doing this with the idea that it was.. I'm not sure. It couldn't have been much of a pay check. Maybe it was just for the fun of it? I really hope that they had fun making it, because it wasn't really that much fun to watch..
